Standards development

Development of the necessary common standards for data processing and communication, in cooperation with the international authorities such as IOC/IODE and ICES and starting from standards already developed during SEASEARCH .
The results will be a library of standards for exchanging the meta-data of the inventories and a common methodology for data and products quality control.

Technical development of the interoperable system

Overall system design, development, integration, tests and maintenance of the system components:

  • Virtual Private Network (VPN);
  • Interfaces between the local platforms and the VPN
  • Common replicable data catalogue;
  • Portal and online data distribution system including “on demand” through web portal, specific regular deliveries to modellers, periodic snapshots and other data services.

Portable Data Management software

Design and development of a stand alone and portable data management software, based on the AWI “Ocean Data View (ODV)” software, to format, check and process the  in-situ and remote sensing data according to the project standards. The software will be used for training and to equip the new data centres.
